Welcome on behalf of Oak Grove Bible Fellowship!
Join us again this week as we open the Scriptures and join in song from our homes! Feel free to add comments and/or reflections to the Comments section below! See the side bar for additional links for downloads of today's guide, or follow along below. For the next three weeks, we'll be led by Weston Pack through video, followed by a few study questions to follow. Follow along below. 1)STUDY TIME IN THE WORD
1 Samuel (Week 1) | Weston Pack
Before we begin, prepare your heart as we sing, "I Will Wait for You (Ps. 130)".
"A Tale of Two Kings"
Start by following along in the message recorded by Weston for this morning (it is actually a “playlist” of two videos, as the first got cut off before it was finished).
After, there are a couple questions you can go through for reflection and application. Questions
After you have watched the video above, take some time to respond to the following questions:
1.) Psalms 56 was one among many psalms written by David in isolation from his countrymen while Saul pursued his life. Read and discuss this Psalm together. What was David's attitude toward his circumstances? His adversary? His God? 2.) Read 1 Samuel 13:1-14. And 1 Samuel 24:1-7 and contrast the difference between how these two leaders handle waiting on God. 2)SONGS OF RESPONSE
Spend some time in song and worship, responding to the Word.
Feel free to play as much or as little as you’d like! There is a full hymnal you can download for today with all songs in the keys sung in; just follow the links in the right column to download in a printable PDF format. Lyrics will be on the YouTube videos below. Watch inline below, or click here for the playlist to open in a new window. SONG SET
3)PRAYER TIME
(prepared by Derrick Pack)
Reflection As we go to prayer this morning, reflect upon the lesson from today. Think about some ways that you are struggling with waiting on the Lord when He is silent. Ask God to reveal them to you. Then, offer these up to Him and ask Him to fix your eyes on what He would have you to. Praise Take a few moments in prayer to praise God for ways He has shown Himself to you this week: in nature, in the Word, in prayer, or in the world around us. Pray that His Name may be honored, “hallowed,” throughout the earth, especially in a time such as this. Supplication First, as we are instructed: Pray that His Kingdom might come, His will might be done on earth as it is in heaven. Second: below are some of our current Prayer Needs; join together in lifting them up!
As always, if you have a prayer need, please send to the prayer chain so we can all be bearing you up in prayer! Simply send an email to [email protected] and we will get it out to our members for prayer right away.
